Data Science and CoLAB: The Program in Data Science , run by CoLAB; an alliance of Plan Ceibal, Universidad Tecnologica de Uruguay ( UTEC ), ant Agencia Nacional de Investigación E Innovación ( ANII ); aims to train professionals to start an educational transformation in data science and analytics in the Cono Sur, and promote Uruguay as a hub for new start-ups and enterprises in data science throughout Latin America. The Program includes courses from the MITx MicroMasters in Statistics and Data Science: Probability - the Science of Uncertainty, Data Analysis for Social Scientist, Fundamentals of Statistics, and Machine Learning with Python - from Linear Models to Deep Learning. Facilitators ad and job description: The MIT Jameel World Education Lab (J-WEL) Higher Education is hiring graduate students and postdocs to create and lead weekly online recitations for a group of Latin American students taking the courses "Fundamentals of Statistics (18.650x)," "Machine Learning with Python (6.860x),” and "Probability: the Science of Uncertainty," offered by edX, and that are part of the Program in Data Science Uruguay. We seek candidates with a weekly availability of 10-15 hours for 16 weeks, knowledge in the course to be facilitated, as well as a deep interest on improving their teaching and leadership skills. Approval from their PI and department administrator is required. The weekly sessions will be delivered via video-conference and the session plans will be co-created with a team from MIT and Uruguay. A total commitment for approximately 16 weeks is necessary. You will receive training in pedagogy, leading and facilitating activities online, and promoting student learning. Payment: A maximum of 10k for a facilitator position involved in the creation of session plans as well as facilitating them. The expected load is between 10-15 hours/week for approximately 16 weeks.
